How to make a PDF under 2 MB
First the file is rewritten without any loss. If it is still too big, the pages are redrawn as images at decreasing quality until the PDF fits under 2 MB.
- Choose the PDF.
- The limit is already set to 2 MB - change it if your portal says otherwise.
- Press Compress PDF and download.
Who asks for 2 MB
A 2 MB limit is common for email attachments to some mail servers, job sites that take a CV with a portfolio, and university assignment upload systems. Image-heavy brochures and reports usually fit after one pass.
If it still does not fit
Very long scanned documents may need to be split - use Split PDF and upload the parts separately.
Questions
Will the text still be readable at 2 MB?
For most documents, yes - the highest quality that fits is chosen.
Can I still select the text?
Only if the lossless step was enough. When pages are redrawn as images, the text is no longer selectable.
