Instagram is where most photos used for AI edits and fake profiles come from. Here is a simple routine for every post.
Before you post: protect the photo
- Open Photo Shield on your phone or computer.
- Choose the photo and keep the default settings (strength: invisible, thoroughness: Maximum).
- Press Protect my photo, then download the protected PNG.
- Upload that downloaded version to Instagram.
Instagram resizes and re-compresses uploads. Photo Shield is trained to survive resizing and its score is measured after JPEG compression, so the score you see is close to what remains after posting.
Settings that help
- Switch to a private account if you don't need a public one.
- Use Close Friends for personal stories.
- Turn off resharing of your stories and posts to messages.
- Limit who can tag and mention you.
If someone misuses your photo
Report the post or account to Instagram, save the link and screenshots, and ask friends to report too. For sexual or threatening fakes, contact the police - it is illegal in many countries.
